Does anyone on here have some form of autism besides blindness? Just wondering.
Not I, but I have known of it and wonder how, or why the 2 disabilities run together?
Anyone know?
no not me either
Or me, but some people have thought I have a learning disability. But my psychiatrist says no.
Do they run together? Or coincidentally collide?
lol what a pointless topic this has been
all of us have responded not me, not me, not me.... usually the point of a board topic is to help, give advice or share same experiences
in conclusion, we all are guilty of wasting space on the boards.
lol
i don't have autism but I do have anxiety and ADD and mild depression. So, I guess I have some other challenges to deal with in addition to blindness.
Blindness is not a form of autism. Just sayin. the original poster posted, "does anyone have a form of autism besides blindness", like blindness is a form of autism.
I agree with leo; they coincidentally collide. they shouldn't be lumped together, and, I honestly have no clue why they apparently would, according to the first poster's wording.
It is quite common to have multiple disability, e.g. vision and hearing impaired, vision or learning disability, or intelectural disability.
however, is the learning disability or interlectural disability due to environmental influence or biological influence is something that is a question. Do blindness become an excuse or the reason for other learning or interlectural disability to occur?
i never knew until a few years ago that blind people could be autistic. i don't know why but it just never occured to me. if the number of blind autistics is increasing, it may have to do with the way autism is clasified and reported.
In addition to my total blindness caused by LCA, I have Asperger's disorder which is a form of autism. Why do you ask?
I just recently met someone who is visually impaired and has a form of autism.
well, that doesn't mean blindness should be lumped with autism.
well, blind people are normal people some have other disabilities, yes, autism included just like sighted people everyone has a chance, blind or sighted, and, I don't think one group has more of 'em then the other. it's like trying to say blind people are more easily to be deaf? or blind people are more easily to be mentally retarded, neither of these have anything to do with blindness, just the fact, we're all people too. yes, I've known several blind autistic people but I also happen to know a lot of sighted autistic people. they just happen to both be there it's not related.
